Kiepe upgrading trolleybuses in Seattle

Last year, King County Metro in Seattle, Washington has ordered a major battery and battery charger upgrade for up to 170 electric trolleybuses, which are charged while in motion, to supplier Kiepe. It’s easy to assume that this order involves BMZ as provider of battery.

The partnershp marks BMZ’s expansion in the e-mobility market segment in the USA. Several pilot buses are already in operation in the States of Washington and California, BMZ highlights.

“We have customized our MAGNUS+ battery to facilitate its use in the Kiepe-specific offering in the United States. This great team effort translated into a unique solution for new-build buses as well as a drop-in replacement for retrofit applications’ – said Paweł Kępski, Director of Business Unit EV of BMZ Poland.

“This pilot program is yet another strategic step of the BMZ Group to expand the company’s US footprint in the EV market – shared Kai Schöffler, Managing Director of BMZ US Inc., adding that – BMZ’s field service proven model is expected to deliver synergies in the heavy duty vehicle electrification business for BMZ Group customers in the North American region”.
