Pondus and Ebusco have been nominated as a finalist for the JEC Innovation Awards in the category: Automotive & Road transportation.

The competition is held yearly by JEC Composites in order to «highlight and celebrate some of the most boundary-pushing technologies and innovations within the composites segment», Ebusco says in a note regarding the shortlisting of the company. The winners will be announced during the JEC Connect online event, 1 – 2 June. The Ebusco 3.0 will be also commercialized in Australia.

Pondus: lightweight bodies for public transport

Pondus, based in the same city of Deurne where Ebusco has its headquarter, is a company which develops, designs and manufactures light weight and load carrying structures for the application in Public Transport. The Ebusco 3.0 is presented as the outcome of a co-development between the Ebusco and Pondus engineering teams. The Ebusco 3.0 bus contains indeed the Pondus innovative and light weight carbon fibre load carrying casco.

With regards to Ebusco nomination, the Dutch manufacturer says: «The Ebusco 3.0 bus series breaks the barriers of current bus design in our drive for sustainable public transport. Not only by using composite materials in the main structure of the body, but also in its approach to focus the design on passenger comfort, driver support and Total Cost of Ownership. Finally, it contributes to make the world we live in a safer and healthier place. With continuing urbanization and the end of the fossil fuel era, innovation is key. The Ebusco 3.0 series is a true example of innovation: ultra-light weight, zero emission, low noise and increased life span. All buses within the 3.0 series are based on the same composite building method and we will start this unique series off with the 3.0 12-meter bus».
