Alexander Dennis is working on developing the next generation of the Enviro200EV single decker range, which will be launched in 2025 to expand the company’s zero-emission bus offering in the UK. An offering that already includes the Enviro 100EV and Enviro 400EV in its portfolio.

The new Enviro200EV will offer customers a scalable platform with midi and full-size single-deck lengths. The 9.9 m, 10.9 m and 11.7 m options form the core of the offering and will be available to both provincial and Transport for London operators, with an additional 10.4 m length available in the capital.

The Enviro200EV will be powered by Voith Electrical Drive System motor, while Lftp batteries are from Catl.

Enviro 200EV for Uk market

The long wheelbase and short overhangs maximize the easily accessible low-floor area of the Enviro200EV, while the reduced wheel intrusion compared to heavier models further increases passenger space. This provides a high number of seats and a high total passenger capacity for each of the vehicle lengths.

In provincial specifications, the Enviro200EV can be equipped with 33, 39 or 43 seats at 9.9 m, 10.9 m and 11.7 m, respectively, with total passenger capacity reaching 92 in the longest model. This is up to two more seats and up to 22 more total passengers than other vehicles of similar length and characteristics currently offered in the UK. One or two wheelchair seats can be provided, accessible via a manual ramp at the front door.

Buses for London will have two doors, and wheelchair users will be able to board via an electric ramp at the rear door. Capable of seating a maximum of 59-72 passengers in total, depending on length, the Enviro200EV’s specifications for London transportation have been carefully designed to increase the number of seats available. Seating capacity ranges from 26 to 34.

Paul Davies, President & Managing Director Alexander Dennis, explained: «Battery form factor is less constrained on Enviro200EV compared to our other next-generation buses where we commissioned a bespoke system to ensure that we delivered highest passenger capacity and a safe, step-free saloon layout. We’re delighted to work with multiple suppliers to offer our customers the best choice for each type of bus. CATL’s batteries are a proven solution that lends itself well to the Enviro200EV».
