BYD-Olectra, the electric bus eBuzz K9 begins commercial operations around Hyderabad International Airport. The vehicle, together with the versions K6 and K7, has just been one of the main actor at Busworld India 2018. Five ebuses have been delivered. The first one has already begun operations under the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).

BYD-Olectra for Indian market

The electric buses are manufacturer by BYD and local partner Olectra Greentech (formerly Goldstone) for Indian market. The headquarters are in Hyderabad, in Southern India. The eBuzz K9 is a 12 meter low floor electric bus, air conditioned, with a capacity of 39+1 seats. The first lot of five zero-emission electric buses was flagged off in Hyderabad by Ajay Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy and Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), www.thenewsminute.com reports. The delivery is part of a contract for the deployment of 40 units of electric bus which TSRTC awarded on Gross Cost Contract basis to Olectra-BYD. eBuzz K7 is already running in Mumbai under Brihan Mumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking.

250 km range for BYD-Olectra with one charge

BYD-Olectra electric buses buses are equipped with Li-ion phosphate battery, with autonomy till 250 km and 4-5 hours charging time, manufacturer states. They also have regenerative braking system which enables the bus to recover part of the kinetic energy lost in braking. “Our buses plying under TSRTC are yet another step in the same direction and we are sure to repeat the success of our electric buses in other states. We are delighted to now offer our state-of-the-art electric buses of international standard to the people of Telangana,” said A.N. Naga Satyam, Executive Director – Olectra Greentech Limited.
