Transdev is expanding e-bus deployment in the German region of Bavaria. In late March, in the district of Fürstenfeldbruck, the bus operator Griensteidl (part of Transdev group), together with the Munich Transport Association (MVV) and the district, has presented five new MAN Lion’s City 12 e-buses out of a 16-units order supported with 4.82 million euros of Federal resources.

They are used on the MVV regional bus route 830 between Puchheim, Gröbenzell and Lochhausen starting 1 April 2025, after Griensteidl won one of the first e-bus route tenders in the district of Fürstenfeldbruck. The e-buses are also charged using the company’s own solar power on its premises.

In addition to the innovative vehicles, the corresponding charging infrastructure was also presented. In total, the district received federal funding for the procurement of 16 electric vehicles and the necessary charging infrastructure, so that further bus routes can be electrified in a few weeks and the local RufTaxi will also be electrified from December 2025, as Transdev points out in a press note.

The new MAN Lion’s City 12 electric buses are provided with Wi-Fi, monitors for passenger information and USB A/C charging sockets, among other things. The air conditioning systems have anti-viral air filters.

The e-buses are charged at three dual charging points, each with a charging capacity of 2 x 90 kW, at the Griensteidl depot in Gröbenzell, mainly during night-time breaks.

“We also use our self-generated solar power from the solar modules on the roofs of our company building to charge the buses”, states Griensteidl Managing Director Alexander Schmidt.
