In Indian region of Gujarat the launch of the GIFT City Metro services was celebrated, now powered by Verde Mobility’s electric buses.
The EV charging provider has launched today in operation a Urban Sphere Ivoryline e-bus.
Indian bus maker startup Urban Sphere, based in Bengaluru, founded in October 2022, is targeting the e-bus market with an offer made of BEV vehicles from 6 to 12 meter long. Most of the production of Urban Sphere is carried on in India. South-east Asia and Africa are among the main target markets, as Karthik Athreya, CEO of Urban Sphere, along with Hima Motati, Co-founder and Director of Finance, and Pranav Pise, Co-founder and Chief Styling Officer, told Sustainable Bus.
Electric buses in GIFT City, Gujarat
GIFT City’s electric buses contribute directly to the goals of the National Clean Air Program (NCAP), playing a crucial role in reducing urban pollution while ensuring seamless last-mile connectivity between metro stations and key areas within GIFT City.
Crafted by Urban Sphere, the Ivoryline is a 9-meter electric bus boasting a 180-kW motor and a 193.1 kWh LFP battery pack. Urban sphere states that this configuration enables 300-kilometer range on a single charge. Ivory line series boasts rapid charging capability; with a 250-kW fast charger, the bus can replenish up to 80% of its battery in just 45 minutes, minimizing downtime for operators.
“We applaud the government’s initiatives in promoting electric mobility and are deeply grateful to GIFT City authorities for recognizing Verde Mobility’s role in making this vision a reality,” said a Verde Mobility spokesperson.
