Mobility Move 2025: the kick-off
Mobility Move 2025 is all about transformation: the four main topics of ‘Personnel’, ‘Autonomous driving’, ‘Digitalisation in sales’ and ‘Infrastructure’ highlight current challenges as well as future solutions. This is particularly evident in the 20 vehicles on display, the increasing interest in AI-supported solutions and the strong presence of over 150 speakers. DELFI e. V. is participating as a guest this year – a strong signal for digital networking in public transport.mobility move is an initiative of VDV and DEVK, organised by the Forum for Transport and Logistics with the VDV Academy.
“We are here at a place of innovation – and modernisation. The transformation of road mobility can be seen here. Mobility Move stands for a change that we must shape together as an industry. These days, we are holding the debates in Germany that will shape the mobility of the future. Public transport is not a luxury, it is a central public service – and more than ever it depends on reliability, funding and skilled labour” said VDV President Ingo Wortmann at the opening of mobility move in Berlin. With 1,500 participants, around 100 exhibitors and 150 speakers on five stages, the event has developed into a major industry gathering.
“The federal government has launched a historic financial package – and as an industry, we are working intensively to ensure that the new coalition agreement also strengthens public transport”, Wortmann continues. “But the reality is that budget funds are becoming scarcer and the battle for distribution is underway.Transport companies remain the drivers of climate-friendly mobility – but we lack long-term reliability. The current change is profound. It cannot be managed without a clear perspective”.
Autonomous driving is gaining strategic importance in public transport: the VDV is calling for a consistent focus on SAE Level 4.
“For a market ramp-up of the corresponding shuttles, we need a tailwind from Berlin, then an international lead market can emerge – made in Germany” says Wortmann. The aim is to create a comprehensive, barrier-free and needs-based range of automated vehicles – also in response to the shortage of skilled labour.
“Every euro invested in autonomous public transport fleets strengthens the German vehicle industry by building up expertise and new production capacities. We see public transport as the key driver of innovation for autonomous driving in Germany,’ said the VDV President.
