Solaris Bus & Coach will supply 19 fuel cell buses to SWK Mobil Krefeld, with deliveries scheduled for 2027.

The order includes 9 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses and 10 articulated Urbino 18 hydrogen vehicles. The operator had already ordered 10 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses in 2023. Those vehicles were delivered in 2025. Solaris’ largest order was performed in Rostock.

Solaris Bus & Coach states that it has delivered more than 800 hydrogen buses to cities across Europe, half of those have gone to Germany (where they operate in 18 cities).

Hydrogen fuel-cell buses accounted for 558 registrations in 2025 in Europe, with Solaris representing the major player with 277 units, corresponding to half of the market. Germany accounts for the 60.2% of the European fuel cell bus market.

According to Solaris Bus & Coach, the 12-metre Urbino 12 hydrogen units will be equipped with a 160 kW central motor, while the articulated Urbino 18 hydrogen buses will feature a 240 kW motor.

The vehicles will include camera systems replacing conventional mirrors, together with systems designed for driver safety and passenger comfort. Accessibility equipment will include ramps and dedicated wheelchair spaces.

SWK Mobil Krefeld will also use Solaris’ eSConnect system for the new hydrogen bus batch.
