Enel X and Autoguidovie, a relationship that is renewed and strengthened. In fact, the operator has assigned the utility to build electrical infrastructure at the Crema site. Final goal? Even more sustainable public transportation. Specifically, it is a depot needed for the operation of ten electric buses serving the Lombardy city, which is expected to come into action in October 2023.
With the award of the contract by Autoguidovie, Italy’s largest privately held local public transport company operating in Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Piedmont, Enel X will play a leading role in a business increasingly oriented toward sustainability and the use of green energy.
The assignment is part of a larger project where Enel X won the tender for the infrastructure of 3 sites operated by Autoguidovie and its subsidiaries (Dolomitibus, Cavourese, Venetiana).
Enel X and Autoguidovie’s project
The project involves the construction of a depot-based electrical distribution and infrastructure facility to serve the recharging of 10 buses, with Enel X Way’s 2-year full-service maintenance guarantee and smart charging system.
«Electrifying local public transport is an opportunity to comprehensively redesign the mobility of our cities in a smarter logic, offering citizens a less polluting and less noisy service, thus incentivizing their use for travel. It is not enough to buy an electric bus to reduce CO2 emissions and take a step towards electrification: we need infrastructure, charging stations that are provided by us with the support of Enel X Way, depot efficiency and digitalization. With the award of this order, Enel X will develop a new evolved and efficient mobility system in Crema for the benefit of citizens», explained Armando Fiumara, Head of e-Bus Italy at Enel X.
«Environmental sustainability and urban regeneration represent the pivots on which all processes of construction and development of our mobility services revolve. Through the implementation of electric infrastructure, citizens, always at the center of our business strategy, will be able to count on sustainable mobility that adheres to their needs. We are convinced, in fact, that only a public transport with a strong innovative stamp can attract a demand today covered by private means of transport in order to decongest traffic by making the experience better during travel and harmonize the service with the typical peculiarities of the city of Crema and its surroundings. With this additional investment Autoguidovie relaunches the centrality of public transport as a driver of growth for citizens, territories and businesses», said Stefano Rossi, CEO of Autoguidovie.
