Chargers manufacturer Kempower has introduced the Mega Satellite Flex, a new high-power charging dispenser supporting both CCS and MCS charging standards for heavy-duty electric vehicles.

The Finnish company unveiled the new Mega Satellite Flex during the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, presenting the company’s first charging dispenser capable of operating with both CCS and MCS connectors. The system is designed for heavy-duty vehicle applications and supports charging outputs of up to 560 kW through CCS and up to 1.2 megawatts through MCS.

The system will be available for sales in Europe and North America in July 2026 and will be showcased at events across Europe this summer.

Kempower Mega Satellite Flex combines CCS and MCS charging

The launch comes as the commercial vehicle sector moves toward megawatt charging infrastructure for battery-electric trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles such as, in the future, e-coaches. The MCS rollout remains at an early stage, while fleets and infrastructure operators continue to operate CCS-equipped vehicles alongside incoming MCS-compatible models. Kempower states that the Mega Satellite Flex is intended to allow charging sites to serve both standards from the same dispenser configuration.

The Mega Satellite Flex is equipped with both a CCS connector and an MCS connector. According to the manufacturer, the CCS system delivers up to 700 A and charging power of up to 560 kW, while the MCS side supports up to 1,500 A and charging power reaching 1.2 MW.

Kempower says the system is compatible with both new and existing distributed charging systems within its product portfolio. The dispenser is also designed for multimodal charging environments, including heavy-duty commercial vehicles as well as passenger cars and vans based on 800V architectures.

Cable reach specifications include 5 meters for the CCS cable and 2.7 meters for the MCS cable. The dispenser can also be equipped with a payment terminal and is available with a DC energy meter for CE/IEC markets.

Kempower presented the Mega Satellite Flex during its Unplug & Recharge customer and partner event held alongside ACT Expo 2026. The product is also being exhibited during the event in Las Vegas.

The company states that the flexible configuration is intended to support charging site utilization during the transition period between CCS and MCS deployments. The Mega Satellite Flex is positioned for fleet operators and charge point operators managing mixed fleets with different charging interfaces.

According to Kempower, the use of high-power charging is intended to reduce charging times and increase vehicle uptime for commercial fleet operations. The company also highlights compatibility with high-power charging requirements for next-generation electric commercial vehicles.

Jussi Vanhanen, Kempower’s Chief Product Officer, said: “We’re proud to be introducing our newest solution designed to support our customers in taking the next step toward zero-emission heavy-duty transportation. Our flexible solution supports operators to take the leap by enabling them to serve more vehicle types, increasing site utilization and return on investment in the short-term, while also getting ready for the MCS transition.”

Driver shortage pushes bus depots toward automation

Europe’s public transport operators are entering a period where staffing pressure and fleet electrification meet in the same place: the bus depot. Around 105,000 bus and coach driver positions remain unfilled across Europe (IRU figures cited in sector analyses), and a meaningful slice of working tim...
