German carrier NIAG (Niederrheinische Verkehrsbetriebe), active in the Duisburg region (Lower Rhine), has commissioned PSI with the delivery of a load and charging management system with integrated vehicle dispatching. The system will be implemented at the depot in Moers, PSI says. NIAG carries some 36.5 passengers per year.

Hannover’s public transport operator ÜSTRA has already commissioned PSI Transcom with the delivery of smart charging load and charging management system. PSI is active also in Zurich and Berlin, among others.

PSI smart charging technology for NIAG

The load and charging management system optimises charging processes, minimises energy costs and smoothes out peak loads, aiming to increase vehicle availability by utilising the charging infrastructure efficiently and improving the scheduling of buses. Seamless integration with existing applications such as the operations control system (ITCS) enables centralised control of all processes in 24-hour operation, the supplier states.

The system supports vehicle scheduling, optimises the use of parking and loading spaces and provides real-time overviews of vehicle status. It is flexibly scalable and takes future expansions of the bus fleet and technological developments into account.

By implementing PSI’s technology, NIAG is pursuing the goal of reducing operating costs, maximising operational efficiency and making an active contribution to reducing its ecological footprint.
