The year 2024 promises a plethora of trade shows and exhibitions focusing on the latest advancements in public transport and bus technology. These events, spread across various locations, offer valuable opportunities for industry professionals and enthusiasts to gather, share knowledge, and witness the evolution of mobility.

2022 punctuated by predominantly national fairs (with the exception of IAA and InnoTrans) had given way to a 2023 featuring two highly respectable events firmly set on the calendar: UITP Summit and Busworld Europe. Now, due to the biennial timing of most of the shows, we’re back on a journey during a year filled with industry gatherings.

Let’s now focus our attention on the main public transport exhibitions scheduled in 2024, starting with the only non-European event featured in this overview.

UITP MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition | Dubai | February 28 – March 1

First stop, the UITP MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition in Dubai (February 28 – March 1) sets the stage for discussions on sustainable urban mobility solutions tailored to the Middle East and North Africa region. Keynote speeches and interactive sessions pave the way for exploring cutting-edge technologies and innovations.

Mobility Move | Berlin, Germany | March 5 – 7

Next, we’ll be venturing to Berlin for former ElekBu (March 5 – 7), since this year rebranded as Mobility Move. Backed by the German organization of public transport companies, it’s the country leading platform for electromobility and alternative energies in public transport. With a strong focus on autonomous driving.

The electric bus conference and trade fair have been an integral part of the industry’s annual calendar of events for 15 years. Under the new umbrella brand “mobility move”, the event “now also offers a suitable setting for other future topics of public transport”, VDV explains. In 2023 ElekBu set a new record number of visitors: 1,200 participants and 78 exhibitors.

BUS2BUS | Berlin, Germany | April 24-25

Back in Berlin, BUS2BUS (April 24 – 25) throws open its doors, offering a global platform for buses, coaches, and mobility. Iveco Bus, MAN, Daimler Buses, DB Regio, MCV Deutschland, Elektrobus Europe/Ikarus, Ebusco, Anadolu Isuzu, Otokar, Arthur Bus, Temsa, CaetanoBus, Now, Kempower, ioki, Jebsen & Jessen, Mobileye are just some of the already confirmed exhibitors.

The 2022 edition of BUS2BUS, held in Messe Berlin, had recorded excellent results: more than two thousand trade visitors from 25 countries, about one hundred exhibitors of 16 different nationalities.

Next Mobility Exhibition | Milan, Italy | May 8 – 10

Shifting gears to Italy, Next Mobility Exhibition (Milan, May 8 – 10) focuses on vehicles, solutions, policies and technologies for sustainable mobility. NME is back this year after the good results of the first edition in 2022. Ayats, Isuzu, Karsan and Otokar have already confirmed their attendance at NME. Iveco and Iveco Bus are also confirmed participants.

IT-TRANS | Karlsruhe, Germany | May 14 – 16

Across the border in Germany, IT-TRANS (Karlsruhe, May 14 – 16) puts IT technologies for public transport in the spotlight with a specific focus on intelligent systems and ticketing solutions. Backed by UITP, the event welcomes a diverse range of participants, from multinational enterprises to startups, and offers a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and showcasing the latest innovations. Attendees can delve into topics like artificial intelligence, payment and ticketing systems, cybersecurity, and data governance, gaining valuable insights into the future of sustainable and efficient public transportation.

Busworld Turkey | Istanbul, Turkey | May 29 – 31

Gearing up for the summer, the 10th edition of Busworld Turkey (Istanbul, May 29 – 31) had already 127 exhibitors on board as of late 2023, including Isuzu, BMC, Bozankaya and Iveco Bus. With total sales space reaching 9,800 sqm (7,530 sqm already sold and an additional 1,200 sqm in the pipeline) and 127 companies already on board, the exhibition is on the brink of being fully booked, Busworld states.

IAA Transportation | Hannover, Germany | September 17 – 22

Fall brings a flurry of activity. IAA Transportation (September 17 – 22) will host for the first time a “dedicated bus theme park”, with the goal of raising the bar of the bus & coach offer within an expo that has established itself as the leading platform for truck and logistics.

InnoTrans | Berlin, Germany | September 24 – 27

Innotrans (Berlin, September 24 – 27), at the 14th edition, is the world’s leading trade fair for public transport technology, offers a comprehensive overview of rail, public transport, and road transport technologies, including electric buses and sustainable mobility solutions. At the start of 2024 99 per cent of the display area was already booked up, organizers say

Covering a total of 200,000 square metres and featuring 42 halls, the rail track and outdoor display site as well as the Bus Display in the Summer Garden, the Berlin Exhibition Grounds are almost fully booked.

innoTrans is gaining increasing attention from the bus sector. In 2022, on the Bus Display exhibitors have been displaying their vehicles, alternative drive systems and the corresponding charging infrastructure.

Euro Mobility Expo | Strasbourg, France | October 1 – 3

Head to Strasbourg for the European Mobility Expo (October 1 – 3), formerly held in Paris. This year it’ll be the first time in the new location for the French exhibition, since a few years ago know as Transports Publics. Many news were launched in 2022!

Euro Mobility Expo focuses on public transport and innovative solutions and attracts key players, including manufacturers, ticketing and service management systems, and mobility authorities.

This year’s edition features a strong emphasis on eco-friendly solutions, showcasing various aspects of sustainable urban mobility. Attendees can explore the latest advancements in electric buses, including Keolis’ autonomous vehicle fleet, and delve into innovative ticketing/passenger information systems designed to ease user experience.

FIAA | Madrid, Spain | October 22 – 25

Spain joins the scene with FIAA (Madrid, October 22 – 25), the International Trade Fair for Urban Public Transport.

Themed “Leading Mobility”, the event will include an additional space – it will occupy pavilions 8 and 10 – with an area of 38,800 m2, which represents an 80% increase compared to the 2022 event (and a comeback to the size of the expo before the pandemic), reflecting the high expectations that the event is generating in the sector.

This year FIAA will have the renewed support of the main business groups in the sector: CONFEBUS, the Spanish Bus and Coach Association; ASCABUS, the National Association of Bus and Coach Bodybuilders; ANETRA, the National Association of Coach and Bus Companies;ATUC, the Association of Urban and Metropolitan Public Transport and DIREBUS, the Association of Coach and Bus Companies.

Euro Bus Expo | Birmingham (UK) | November 12 – 14

The UK takes the wheel with Euro Bus Expo (Birmingham, November 12 – 14), the nation’s premier event for bus and coach operators (and now the industry’s only U.K.-based trade show, following the permanent cancellation of Coach and Bus UK) of reference, taking place every two years at the NEC in Birmingham.

The show’s free-to-attend Masterclass Theatre will serve as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to provide updates, present findings, share experiences, and explore solutions to industry challenges.

Autocar Expo | Lyon, France | December 3 – 6

This whirlwind tour concludes with Autocar Expo (Lyon, December 3 – 6), showcasing the latest innovations in buses, coaches, and sustainable mobility solutions in France. Which, should not be forgotten, it’s the main market for buses and coaches in the EU (2023 saw bus and coach registrations rising up to 5,696)
