Qbuzz will take over the Zuid-Holland Noord concession in the Netherlands as of 15 December 2024. Formerly ordered (March 2023) 15-meter Van Hool e-buses will be replaced by Yutong vehicles, is reported by the operator, that has also shared some rendering. 50 units of Yutong U15 e-buses have been ordered and will be in operation by July 2025.

“Once these buses prove to meet expectations, the remaining buses for fastBuzz will be ordered from Yutong”, Qbuzz says (indeed, following the first order for 54 units, Qbuzz in January 2024 also signed a deal for further 112 units).

Qbuzz to operate Yutong e-buses instead of Van Hool

Van Hool announced the plan to stop production of city buses (and relocating business in Macedonia) on 11th March 2024. On 8th April, was declared bankruptVDL – Schmitz Cargobull’s bid has been chosen by trustees in Van Hool’s case as the best fit to ensure continuity in the company on 10th April 2024.

The debut of Qbuzz in the concession will come along with the launch of new travel offers streekBuzz and stadsBuzz. Also 140 e-buses by Iveco Bus will be rolled out.

The new vehicles have a swivel and automatically adjustable driver’s seat with two armrests and three-point harness. The seat is also equipped with a climate package for cooling and heating. Cameras with wide-angle lenses replace the exterior mirrors. ADAS technologies support the driver with acoustic and visual signals when necessary.

Yutong’s 15-metre-long to be launched by Qbuzz will have “wide aisle and seats with extra legroom. Laptops can be fully unfolded on the large, folding tables with handy cup holders. The headrests have mobile phone holders with induction chargers. There are also USB sockets. With ample Wi-Fi bandwidth, travellers can work, study, relax, watch films or listen to music on the move”, Qbuzz says.

Electrically retractable wheelchair board provides convenience for both wheelchair user and driver. There is a direct voice connection to the driver from the wheelchair space. The buses will features a dedicated sound system (AVAS) so that a passengers can hear a slow-moving electric bus approaching.
