Serena Lancione, current managing director of Turin public transport carrier GTT, has been elected as president of the European division UITP, the International Union of Public Transport.

Her mandate will begin on 19 June 2025, immediately after the UITP Summit in Hamburg, scheduled to take place in the German city from 15 to 18 June.

Serena Lancione has been covering the position of managing director at GTT since 2022. Lawyer, she previously held the position of General Manager of Bus Company and Board Member of Società Metropolitane Acque Torino S.p.a. At the same time, he held positions in regional and national employers’ associations.

GTT is involved in a major project worth 700 million euros of work, including extension of the metro with four more stations, two tram lines and 30 kilometres of extra track, plus the purchase of 437 new buses and 70 new trams for a further 380 million euros of investment. Iveco is delivering 225 electric buses in Turin following a tender awarded in 2023.
