4,355 buses and coaches were registered in Spain in 2024, growing 16% on 2023. These are the data, coming from market analysis firm MSI and including also minibuses, covered on trade media Carrilbus. Taking only buses over 8 ton into consideration, the complete figure becomes 3,604 and shows an increase of 9% on 2023.

In 2024 Italian market broke all records with nearly 5,000 buses over 8 ton registered (the highest figure reached before 2024 was the 4,400 units registered in… 2001). French bus and coach market grew 2%. At the same time, German market showed a stagnation, with volumes decreasing -2%Swedish bus market experienced a 30% drop in new registrations.

Bus market 2024 in Spain: one out of four buses is by Mercedes

The leading brand in bus registrations in 2024 was Mercedes with 1,077 units, an increase of 13.8% compared to 2023 (and a market share of 25%). Iveco with 532 units occupies the second position in the ranking, also growing 13%, followed by MAN with 435 units (+19%) and Scania with 426 (-8%). The top four brands have a cumulated market share of 56%.

Volvo had 331 units registered, Irizar 275. The Basque brand grew 27% in 2024 in terms of volumes. Also Temsa and King Long grew consistently: +40 and +155% respectively, up to 180 and 130 units in 2024. On the other hand, Solaris experienced a -64% decrease (102 units vs 284 in 2023).

Alfabus had a great 2024 in Spain, with as many as 107 units registered (vs 0 in 2023).

A total of 2,462 complete buses and 1,893 buses with bodywork were registered, according to data provided by MSI.
