Battery analytics software company Twaice entered a collaboration with Analog Devices, Inc., a global semiconductor company and software solutions provider, to tackle the challenges of battery lifecycle optimization. Analog Devices’ sensor technology and wireless connectivity with Twaice’s battery analytics software will then be combined. The outcome of the cooperation is referred to the car market. Twaice is active also in the e-bus market (for instance through a cooperation with fleet monitoring company ViriCiti).

The alliance «will be instrumental in significantly reducing warranty risks and recalls, optimizing battery life, and enhancing battery value», Twaice says.

Precision data combined with advanced predictive battery analytics will shed light into the darkness, which is crucial in unlocking as yet undiscovered potential along the entire value chain

Twaice cooperates with Analog Devices

Twaice is part of the European Battery Alliance. In late 2020 Twaice opened a new lab in Munich that allows EV battery tests at temperatures from -20 to 80°C. The German-based company has also been announced winner of the 2021 Global Cleantech 100 European Company of the Year

Analog Devices is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of a broad portfolio of high-performance analog mixed-signal and digital signal processing solutions used in nearly all types of electronic devices. They are also a market leader in battery management solutions. The collaboration with the Munich-based software company Twaice, whose software platform provides end-to-end battery analytics solutions, will enable optimization of the entire battery lifecycle.

The goal of the collaboration is to «provide a holistic lifecycle solution for automakers with integrated hardware and software. A complete end-to-end solution will be provided, with state-of-the-art battery measurements provided through a wireless battery management system. Analog Devices’ sensor technology provides data, and a quality of data previously unavailable. Twaice can generate crucial insights into the battery performance desired by car companies around the globe. Integrating the Analog Devices’ sensor and communication solutions creates an ideal data basis. The resulting forecasts enable qualified statements at any point in the battery’s life cycle regarding its value and usability».

Twaice – Analog Devices address the battery lifecycle

Battery performance and lifespan play a key role in the sustainability of solutions they are deployed in, yet the assessment thereof is often challenging. “Precision data combined with advanced predictive battery analytics will shed light into the darkness, which is crucial in unlocking as yet undiscovered potential along the entire value chain,” said Dr. Stephan Rohr, Co-CEO of Twaice.

“The battery is the energy source for every electric vehicle, and it is also a valuable asset,” said Patrick Morgan, Vice President of Automotive at Analog Devices. “Together with Twaice, we are delivering innovative holistic solutions across battery lifetimes that create significant value for our customers and support a circular economy.”

Extension of the value chain

“The collaboration with Analog Devices is a decisive milestone for us in widening the approach to major customers and a global market launch of newly developed products, as the company has decades of market expertise and a large sales organization in the automotive and energy industries,” said Dr. Michael Baumann, Co-CEO of TWAICE.
