This achievement marks a key milestone for the advancement of autonomous transportation in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bus has proven feasible for autonomous operations in bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes as well as on private sites. With a length of 12 meters, the bus can carry up to 100 passengers comfortably and safely. Technologies integrated into the bus include safety controls and navigation software. EasyMile also contributes what is one of the most advanced fleet management solutions and one of the first fully dedicated to autonomous vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"aspect-w-16 aspect-h-9\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IVECO BUS and EasyMile Reach Next Stage for Autonomous Standard City Bus\" width=\"1778\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Wv1vp3MHJH0?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Autonomous Standard City Bus works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>12-meter long bus<\/strong> \u2013 joint-developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/?s=iveco\">Iveco<\/a> and EasyMile \u2013 can carry up to 100 passengers comfortably and safely. Technologies integrated into the vehicle include safety controls and navigation software. EasyMile also contributes what is one of the most advanced fleet management solutions and one of the first totally designed for autonomous vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bus&#8217;s built-in autonomous driving system (ADS) allows the bus to repeatedly dock at stations in less than 10 cm.This is important because it improves accessibility, especially for wheelchair users. Maximum speeds achieved by the bus in autonomous mode have shown that the technology performs well even at 40km\/h. Further testing indicated that the technology is also effective at autonomous speeds above 70km\/h. Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) capabilities allow the bus to anticipate traffic light phases, which means smooth stops and restarts with less energy consumption.
