Solaris Bus\u00a0& Coach is\u00a0presenting two\u00a0electric vehicles at\u00a0the 16th International Fair of\u00a0Public Transport \u2013 Transexpo, to\u00a0be held from 12th to\u00a014th October 2022 in\u00a0Kielce: the\u00a0flagship electric model of\u00a0the manufacturer \u2013 Urbino 12 electric, and\u00a0the articulated Urbino 18.75 electric, both featuring new-generation batteries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Urbino 12 electric on\u00a0display stands out\u00a0due to\u00a0its new-generation, high-capacity batteries \u2013 of\u00a0over 520 kWh<\/strong>. Solaris High Energy batteries with similar parameters guarantee a\u00a0driving range of\u00a0around 300 km\u00a0in diverse road and\u00a0weather conditions, manufacturer says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\u00a0energy storage systems can\u00a0be charged using one\u00a0of the\u00a0two plug-in sockets, one\u00a0placed above the\u00a0wheel arch, and\u00a0another one\u00a0at the\u00a0front of\u00a0the vehicle. The\u00a0bus features an\u00a0electric axle with two\u00a0integrated electric motors of\u00a0125 kW\u00a0each (by ZF). The\u00a0propulsion system was\u00a0manufactured using energy-saving SiC\u00a0technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Interior features many comfortable solutions for\u00a0urban passengers: a\u00a0comprehensive passenger information system, USB\u00a0charging ports and\u00a0LED lamps, including elegant, blue lighting switched on\u00a0at night. A\u00a0comprehensive video surveillance system and\u00a0solutions to\u00a0assist the\u00a0driver ensure the\u00a0highest safety standards. The\u00a0MobilEye Shield+ system warns the\u00a0driver if\u00a0there is\u00a0a bicycle, motorcycle or\u00a0a pedestrian in\u00a0the driver\u2019s blind spot. Completely redesigned mirrors, or\u00a0better said cameras, display the\u00a0picture on\u00a0the screens in\u00a0the vehicle, which translates to\u00a0excellent visibility, even in\u00a0unfavourable weather conditions, in\u00a0the rain or\u00a0at dusk. The\u00a0bus is\u00a0also equipped with a\u00a0dusk sensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are\u00a026 passengers\u2019 seats aboard the\u00a0bus, and\u00a0nearly half of\u00a0them are\u00a0accessible from the\u00a0low floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The second vehicle presented by\u00a0Solaris at\u00a0Transexpo 2022 is\u00a0the articulated electric bus\u00a0that was\u00a0extended to\u00a018.75 metres<\/strong>. This articulated Urbino vehicle is\u00a0the second most popular bus\u00a0among Solaris electric solutions. The\u00a0vehicle displayed in\u00a0Kielce this year is\u00a0the first 4th generation model with extended body of\u00a018.75 metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The bus\u00a0is locally emission-free, and\u00a0its 240 kW\u00a0central traction motor<\/strong> ensures smooth acceleration and\u00a0silent operation, manufacturer stresses. The\u00a0increased bus\u00a0interior provides for\u00a0optimal driving range and\u00a0higher passenger capacity. The\u00a0vehicle is\u00a0equipped with high-capacity batteries of\u00a0over 520 kWh<\/strong>. At\u00a0the same time, due\u00a0to its\u00a0longer body, the\u00a0vehicle boasts three bays for\u00a0wheelchair-bound passengers and\u00a0138 passengers, in\u00a0which 41 seated aboard the\u00a0bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Similarly to the 12-metre bus, also here the manufacturer paid attention to a very well equipped interior to ensure comfortable and safe journey for passengers. In addition to the MobilEye system and cameras that replaced classic mirrors, the driver can use wide-angle cameras that deliver the 360 degree bird\u2019s eye view. This ensures an even higher safety and comfort to the driver. Besides, the bus is equipped with the dusk and rain sensor, as well as an automatic device to detect driver\u2019s fatigue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The bus\u00a0presented this year was\u00a0designed to\u00a0operate in\u00a0the most severe weather conditions and\u00a0is equipped with a\u00a0special Scandinavian thermal insulation package<\/strong>. It\u00a0consists of\u00a0such solutions as\u00a0additional insulation of\u00a0the side walls and\u00a0roof as\u00a0well as\u00a0of the\u00a0chassis around the\u00a0wheel arches, double-glazed side windows and\u00a0heating mats installed in\u00a0the floor, in\u00a0the door area. It\u00a0improves passengers\u2019 thermal comfort and\u00a0decreases energy consumption on\u00a0frosty days. In\u00a0addition, snow chains can\u00a0be installed on\u00a0the Urbino 18.75 electric bus, as\u00a0these are\u00a0often part of\u00a0the standard equipment of\u00a0city buses in\u00a0Scandinavia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n520 kWh on the 12-meter Urbino!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
