The Faroe Islands has chosen Iveco Bus’s E-Way to start the electrification of urban transport. Iveco Bus has in fact delivered two 10.7-meter-long E-way buses to HZ Bussar for the in the municipality of Tórshavn.

These are the first two all-electric city buses to operate on the islands, where the brand is already well established. They join a fleet of 16 Crossway units in service since December 2022.

Powered by 10 battery packs totaling 420 kWh, the E-Way can successfully provide daily service under real operating conditions. This capability demonstrates the vehicle’s versatility in adapting to different operational routes and the excellent range offered by this overnight-loading midibus.

The compact dimensions of the E-Way midibus, only 10.7 m long and 2.33 m wide, make it a very agile vehicle in difficult-to-access routes such as narrow streets in urban centers. Easily accessible, the E-Way will accommodate more than 60 passengers on board, including 23 seated passengers.

These E-Way electric buses generate no emissions, operate quietly, provide comfortable transportation and help protect the environment, contributing to improving the quality of life for passengers, drivers and citizens.

“We have just received two new E-Way buses and it is a very special moment for us because they are the first electric buses in the islands. We are very happy to move from diesel vehicles to zero-emission electric vehicles,” said John Fonsdal, head of public transportation at HZ Bussar.

Giorgio Zino, head of Iveco Bus business operations in Europe, said, “We are proud that our E-Way midibuses have been chosen to be the first electric buses in service in the Faroe Islands. With this delivery, Iveco Bus demonstrates once again that the E-Way range fully meets the needs of public transport operators, whatever the mission and wherever it takes place, relying on a strong and close-knit network.”

The delivery of the vehicles was supported by dealer Gervi.

The Faroe Islands has chosen Iveco Bus’s E-Way to start the electrification of urban transport.
