They will join two earlier Enviro500EV pilot buses which were delivered in 2021 (they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/news\/first-electric-double-decker-buses-los-angeles-foothill-transit-alexander-dennis-proterra\/\">features battery system from Proterra<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foothill Transit is a leading public transit agency serving 22 cities in the San Gabriel and Pomona valleys in eastern Los Angeles Country, California. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"alexander-dennis-double-decker-e-buses-in-california\">Alexander Dennis double decker e-buses in California<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The new buses will utilise the technology of <strong>Alexander Dennis\u2019s next-generation zero-emission bus platform <\/strong>recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/news\/alexander-dennis-next-generation-enviro100ev-400ev-launch-house\/\">launched in the UK and the Asia-Pacific region<\/a>. This combines the <strong>Voith<\/strong> Electrical Drive System (VEDS) with a modular battery system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award is the <strong>second in North America<\/strong> (after the one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/electric-bus\/seattle-sound-transit-alexander-dennis-brt\/\">commissioned by Sound Transit in Seattle<\/a>) for the Enviro500EV with next-generation technology and &#8220;highlights the resurging demand for Alexander Dennis double deck buses following the relaunch of Buy America-compliant production with Big Rig Manufacturing&#8221;, as the OEM states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The addition of these 12 double deck zero-emission battery-electric buses is part of Foothill Transit&#8217;s broader strategy to modernize its fleet and contribute to the broader goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Recent additions have included 33 fuel cell-electric Xcelsior CHARGE FC single deckers from NFI Group sister company New Flyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foothill Transit CEO <strong>Doran Barnes<\/strong> states: \u201cThis investment in zero emissions technology aligns with <strong>our vision for a sustainable future<\/strong>.
