In December 2024, TUVISA, the public transport company in Vitoria-Gasteiz (north of Spain), took delivery of ten new zero-emission buses from Irizar. This includes six 18-meter articulated buses and four 12-meter articulated buses, which are now housed at the city’s Electromobility Centre. The buses, which began arriving at a rate of one per week, are already in service on Line 4.

A first fleet of Irizar electric buses started operation in the city back in 2020, following an order achieved in 2019.

These new buses are part of a broader effort to modernize TUVISA’s fleet. The average age of the fleet has dropped from 12.79 years in 2023 to 11.44 years, with a total of 94 vehicles in operation. Charging of e-buses is done at night in the depots on Avenida del Zadorra. They also have the possibility of fast charging via pantograph if necessary.

10 Irizar electric buses for Vitoria-Gasteiz
