As the organization underlines, by calling for \u201c<strong>new rules facilitating aid for a shift towards sustainable land transport modes<\/strong>,\u201d the roadmap acknowledges the vital role of transport in strengthening the EU\u2019s competitiveness and driving decarbonisation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UITP reacts to the Clean Industrial Deal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to deliver on its strategic objectives, <strong>UITP urges the inclusion of local public transport and its supply chain as key components of a sustainable and competitive industrial future<\/strong>. Quoting from UITP&#8217;s press release, &#8220;UITP fully endorses Executive Vice-President Ribera\u2019s focus on a just transition that promotes quality jobs, empowers individuals, and strengthens social cohesion. Public transport plays a key role in this transition, providing stable employment across multiple sectors and supporting the development of green skills essential for a sustainable economy. With over 2 million people employed across the EU, it remains one of the largest local employers. The integration of a Sustainable Transport Investment Plan is another welcome development, particularly its focus on accelerating the deployment of recharging infrastructure&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, UITP echoes Commissioner Hoekstra\u2019s call for simplification &#8211; streamlining administrative and regulatory processes is crucial to ensuring the faster rollout of zero-emission vehicles and the necessary recharging infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UITP is also pleased to see the Clean Industrial Deal reflects several of its key recommendations, including the <strong>use of ETS revenues as an important tool to support decarbonisation<\/strong>. UITP urges to direct these revenues toward accelerating the sector\u2019s development and innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Clean Industrial Deal aligns with UITP\u2019s core principles by recognising the essential role of transport in Europe\u2019s green transition.
