The international organization of public transport has released a Mobility Manifesto, that is now\u00a0live alongside the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mobilityontop.uitp.org\/manifesto2019\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#MobilityOnTop platform.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/manifesto-en.7e8a6f92a5c0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CLICK HERE TO READ THE MANIFESTO<\/a><\/h3>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4870 size-full\" title=\"Mobility on top\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/247b9820649662b36ae1b19b5818ecea15d662b0fd888c30ad83b26313fd7b07.jpg\" alt=\"Mobility on top\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/>\n<h2>The key role of public transport<\/h2>\n<p>In particular, UITP advocates to guarantee a tailor-made legal framework and underlines how, as new forms for mobility are emerging, public transport remains the <strong>indisputable backbone <\/strong>of any <strong>multimodal transport solution<\/strong>.\u00a0UITP also calls on the EU to strengthen future investment and research funding for all forms of sustainable urban and local mobility.<br \/>\n&#8220;Public transport plays a major role in the life of cities and is also a key factor in the fight against climate change &#8211; UITP explains -.\u00a0Representing more than 450 public transport operators and authorities in all EU member states, UITP will encourage the new EU decision-makers to ensure that\u00a0<strong>mobility is on top of all relevant new EU policy<\/strong>.\u00a0Alongside public transport, many other fields of legislation, such as <strong>digitalisation<\/strong>, social affairs or automation,\u00a0have an impact on public transport and urban mobility. UITP expects MEPs with mobility on their minds, to sign up to our new Manifesto&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2>Public transport to fight climate change<\/h2>\n<p>Thomas Avanzata,\u00a0UITP Europe Senior Director, says:\u00a0\u201cIt is high time for decision-makers to make urban mobility a key priority to achieve EU ambitions in terms of: <strong>inclusion, innovation, employment, clean air and fighting against climate change<\/strong>. These objectives will need to be translated into more concrete actions and important investments to help improve mobility in EU cities and the quality of daily life of EU citizens.
