Thomas Built Buses and Proterra welcome the first large order for the jointly developed electric school bus Jouley<\/strong>. The subsidiary of Daimler Buses, in fact,\u00a0has been selected as the provider of all 50 electric school buses<\/strong> allocated for the initial phase of Dominion Energy\u2019s electric school bus replacement program in Virginia.\u00a0<\/strong>The program represents the largest deployment of electric school buses in the United States.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley lately joined the Saf-T-Liner C2 (which is diesel powered) in the portfolio of Thomas Built Buses.\u00a0Mass production will begin in 2020.\u00a0Jouley<\/strong>\u00a0is powered by Proterra electric vehicle technology <\/strong>and configured with 220 kWh of total energy capacity, a two-speed transmission and a TBB-estimated operating range of up to 134 miles.<\/p>\n Jouley can charge in about three hours with the Proterra 60kW DC fast charging system and can supply power back to the power grid using vehicle to grid (V2G) technology.<\/p>\n The vehicle has been developed through the partnership with Daimler, Daimler Trucks North America LLC and Proterra. The cooperation was announced at IAA Commercial Vehicles in Germany in September 2018<\/a>\u00a0and is focused on the topic of school bus electrification, which is highly relevant for North American market. Then, the\u00a0launch of the first Jouley<\/strong>\u00a0was officially announced by Proterra in the end of October 2018<\/a> during\u00a0the 44th<\/sup> Annual National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Conference.<\/p>\n\n
