That now marks the largest investment on this technology in North America.<\/p>\n<p>The major investment of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT)\u00a0was announced today by\u00a0Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. The city aims to reach a 100 per cent public transport by 2028.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/byd_ebus_white-e1501188035929-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"byd los angeles\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" \/>\n<h2>The first 25 e-buses in Los Angeles already this year<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/electric-bus\/byd-conquers-los-angeles-and-gets-the-largest-ebus-order-in-us-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">order for 130 BYD electric buses was announced in November 2019<\/a>. Then a further batch of 25 vehicles has been ordered from the local manufacturer Proterra. Four BYD e-buses have already been delivered, then the number of vehicles coming from the Chinese brand will be 134.<\/p>\n<p>By this summer, the first 25 buses will be in service and the remaining 130 will arrive in 2021, LADOT officials said.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no surprise that this major purchase is made by a Californian transport authority, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-bus.com\/news\/california-pushes-for-the-transition-only-zero-emission-purchases-from-2029\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the state is leading the transition of the US toward cleaner transportation<\/a>.\u00a0California bus fleets are expected to be zero emission by 2040, according to the\u00a0<strong>Innovative Clean Transit rule<\/strong>, voted by California\u2019s Air Resources Board (CARB) in late 2018.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"34\" data-lineheight=\"49px\">BYD, the first in time in Los Angeles in 2014<\/h2>\n<p>The 30-foot (12-meter) <strong>BYD K7M<\/strong> has 22 seats and can be charged in 2.5 to 3 hours. BYD says its range is 250 miles. The Chinese company\u00a0offers a 12-year warranty on its batteries. The first \u2018appearance\u2019 of a BYD electric bus in Los Angeles dates back to 2014, when LADOT conducted a 90-day trial of a battery-electric bus.
