Solaris<\/strong>\u00a0e-bus fleet in Cracow<\/strong> gets a further boost as MPK<\/strong> has ordered today\u00a050 Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses.\u00a0These new vehicles will expand the\u00a0existing fleet of\u00a0400 Solaris buses of\u00a0varying configurations, including 28 electric buses. The number of Polish-made zero emission buses will then grow to reach 78 electric bus units.<\/p>\n MPK Cracow<\/strong> (Miejskie Przedsi\u0119biorstwo Komunikacyjne S.A) has commissioned today, 25 May 2020, an order for\u00a050 articulated electric buses as\u00a0well as\u00a050 plug-in charging devices<\/strong>, suitable for\u00a0each of\u00a0the new\u00a0buses. The\u00a0vehicles shall be\u00a0supplied to\u00a0Cracow within a\u00a0year from the\u00a0contract signing. The\u00a0contract value amounts to\u00a0PLN 165,435,000 (around 36 million euros).<\/p>\n The electric buses supplied to\u00a0Cracow by\u00a0Solaris will be\u00a0propelled by\u00a0electric axles with integrated electric motors by ZF (which has just announced that the central electric motor CeTrax will soon begin series production<\/a>). The\u00a0design of\u00a0the articulated buses will be\u00a0adapted to\u00a0two recharging modes: by\u00a0means of\u00a0a 4-pole roof-mounted pantograph<\/strong> placed above the\u00a0first vehicle axis; or\u00a0using a\u00a0plug-in charger. Meanwhile energy will be\u00a0stored in\u00a0high density Solaris High Energy+ batteries<\/strong>, which represent the latest development of the Polish manufacturer with regards to battery technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n The electric articulated buses will be\u00a0able to\u00a0carry 141 passengers at\u00a0a time<\/strong>, of\u00a0whom 43 will be\u00a0able to\u00a0travel seated. The\u00a0latest buses for\u00a0Cracow will feature a\u00a0monitoring system, a\u00a0passenger information system, air-conditioning, USB\u00a0charging ports and\u00a0an electric heating system. Wheelchair-bound persons will be\u00a0able to\u00a0take advantage of\u00a0platforms facilitating boarding and\u00a0alighting of\u00a0the bus. The\u00a0ramps will be\u00a0installed at\u00a0the second door.<\/p>\n \u201cWe perceive the\u00a0decision to\u00a0buy 50 more electric buses of\u00a0Solaris as\u00a0confirmation of\u00a0the positive experience the\u00a0operator has\u00a0had using Solaris electric vehicles; experience resulting not\u00a0only from the\u00a0high quality of\u00a0the vehicles as\u00a0such but\u00a0also from the\u00a0professionally designed maintenance service. One\u00a0of the\u00a0factors taken into consideration in\u00a0that competition was\u00a0ecological transport and\u00a0its meaning for\u00a0the environment. The\u00a0new buses will service four bus\u00a0lines running through the\u00a0Three Bards\u2019 Avenues (Juliusz S\u0142owacki Avenue, Adam Mickiewicz Avenue, Zygmunt Krasi\u0144ski Avenue), that is\u00a0in a\u00a0region of\u00a0the city where the\u00a0air pollution limits are\u00a0exceeded the\u00a0most,\u201d stated Cracow mayor Jacek Majchrowski<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The purchase of\u00a050 articulated electric buses for\u00a0Cracow has\u00a0made it\u00a0onto the\u00a0list of\u00a0projects selected for\u00a0European Union subsidising.\u00a0 \u201cWe have been awarded ca. 110 million PLN\u00a0in subsidies for\u00a0the purchase of\u00a0those vehicles.
